Gayle’s story is one of love, adventure, and a deep passion for good food. Originally from Fort Beaufort, Gayle and her husband Barry embarked on a life-changing journey from their family home Johannesburg to the scenic shores of De Kelders, Western Cape. With breathtaking views of Walker Bay as their backdrop, the couple decided to pursue a shared dream—creating a warm and welcoming space where locals and travellers alike could enjoy great coffee and delicious food in one of South Africa's most stunning coastal settings.

In 2001, after renovating their new home, they opened the doors of Coffee on the Rocks, a cozy seaside café offering a unique blend of comfort and charm. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of De Kelders, Gayle’s culinary style reflects her love for fresh, local ingredients. Whether you’re sipping on a perfectly brewed coffee or indulging in one of her famous homemade cakes, every dish is crafted with care and quality ingredients.

It’s a little bit eccentric, a little bit genious, a whole lot of love. Legend has it, Gayle dreams up the next days recipe while soaking in the bath, so you know you’ll get something fresh, relaxed and full of love.
